About

Hannah

Hi, i’m Hannah, the Founder of Solunah. My home is in Somerset with my husband Lawrence, our baby girl and our golden cocker spaniel.

After finishing my degree in fashion design where I developed a deep interest in corsetry, evening wear and couture construction techniques I delved into the world of bridal. I quickly realised that designing the most sentimental and magical garment most people will ever wear in their lives, was where my heart lay. My bridal journey began in 2014 after making a wedding dress at the request of a friend who couldn’t find what she wanted within a traditional bridal store setting. I fell in love with the entire process, most of all working with the bride to help her vision come to life. The past seven years of my career have been spent designing across a collection of brands for a world renowned design house. Here I gained an in-depth knowledge and experience of the industry whilst honing my craft and refining an individual design aesthetic.

“…Hannah created something even more beautiful than I had ever imagined!”

Design

I am a great lover of the outdoors and take inspiration for many of my designs from various aspects of the natural world. The ordinary magic of a crescent moon in a velvety sky, the way the light hits a residue of raindrops and sets them sparkling, I am forever captivated by the details and simple charm of this world.

My design style is often expressed through a bohemian inspired lace, a botanical pattern or a delicate embroidery with the most subtle of sparkles. I adore a clean, refined silhouette, be it form fitting or flowing, and I believe the intricate details of a gown are what truly brings it to life, the final touch of individuality and character to reflect its wearers personality. As a bride who could not settle on just one look for her own wedding day, I understand how difficult it can be to choose and commit to a style when each of us have wonderfully multifaceted personalities. I have always been attracted to detachable elements and changeable looks, which cleverly give a bride the option of showing more than one side of her character. If there were ever a day to call for an outfit change, this is the one.

Bespoke

A wedding dress is more than just a dress, It is an extension of your identity, a jigsaw piece to fit in with the grand plan of your dream wedding day. I want to make sure that your dress, is all you.

Each of my dresses, be it a collection design or a fully bespoke creation, will be made to fit your body. We never need to mention the word ‘size’ within my studio as the dress will be size you.

Designing a bespoke dress is how I most often work with brides. I have a mini collection available to browse here, on offer to be ordered and made to measure but they are also here to act as a starting point, to give you some ideas of silhouettes and fabrics you might be drawn to. Whether you have a creative imagination and can picture your dream dress with clarity or you want to discuss a range of options and figure out what style of dress would be perfect for you. I would love to piece your ideas together and create a tangible version of the dress you will feel your most sparkly self in. Head over to the bespoke page to read more about the design process and discover how we can work collaboratively on your wedding dress design.

Low Impact

With a deep rooted connection to the environment around me I am dedicated to creating a low impact business which is kind and conscious at it’s core.

By the very nature of sourcing an item hand made for you, by somebody local, the environmental impact of your wedding dress is greatly reduced. Each Solunah dress is a one of a kind item made just for you, there is no mass production in my studio. Each dress is meticulously hand made by me and on request, it is already loved, wanted and waiting to be worn for a very special moment.

My collection was designed with a focus on using sustainable fabrics wherever possible, sourced within the UK to minimise my carbon footprint. The range of bridal fabrics that are sustainably produced or created using recycled elements is ever increasing and I hope to call my entire range eco friendly in the future.

I ensure that all packaging used within my studio is studiously recycled or reused as part of my ongoing commitment to minimising my environmental impact. I endeavour to reduce my waste wherever possible and any excess fabric from cutting is stored safely ready to be repurposed, to ensure there is as little waste as possible.

Even after your day has been and gone, let’s continue the conversation about how we could rework your dress into something you could wear again. Such a loved and sentimental piece should be given multiple chances to shine.

Wanderer | The Collection

Far away places, pink and golden skies, the shimmer of a shell strewn on the sand by the power of the tides, the crackle of a fire, the weight of a velvety sky full of stars. Dresses for feeling, not just for wearing.
